COVID-19 Update: NYCETC COVID-19 Website Launched + Surveys for the Workforce Field on Financial Health, Clients and Impact
Like all of you, we are working to respond to the C-19 pandemic with as much urgency and utility as possible in order to minimize the negative health and economic consequences for our members, our sector, and for all New Yorkers.

To that end, we have created a NYCETC COVID-19 Updates and Resources website that we will regularly update. It covers the following topics: Government Executive Orders and Proposals; Advocacy; Resources and Tools; Financial Support; Events and Webinars; Surveys; Ways You Can Support; and Health Resources. Below we highlight a few critical resources and requests from the field that you should know about.

NYCETC Member Data Collection for COVID-19 Advocacy: Surveys

We are asking each member organization to complete the following two surveys by this Friday, March 27 at 2:00 pm to support our advocacy in this rapidly evolving situation.

The purpose of these surveys is to collect data that will provide the City (and our State and Federal partners) with a clear picture of the economic impact of the C-19 health crisis on the sector and our clients in New York City, and financial needs of the sector during the recovery. We are particularly concerned with the short- and long-term financial health and flexibility of the workforce development sector, and ask that you share as much as you can about your current and near-term financial concerns.

Your information will be kept CONFIDENTIAL and will only be used in the aggregate, so please provide the most accurate information that you can. Please contact us at jlaymon@nycetc.org with any questions.

Letter to Mayor de Blasio on Supports for Workers, Jobseekers, Workforce Service Providers and Businesses

Last week, we held a call with more than 60 members across the system -- community-based organizations, government agencies, businesses -- to better understand your concerns and impact on the sector. Click here to see the feedback that was provided leading up to and during the call.

As result of this feedback, and the support of our friends and partners in Invest In Skills NYC, we sent a letter to the City. The letter commended our City leaders for their response during this difficult time. However, it raised the immediate and long-term challenges and uncertainties for public health and economic stability in New York City, specifically the reduction of worker hours, health risks to workers, and the loss of employment protections. Read the full letter. Thank you to the three dozen coalitions and consortiums that represent workers and jobseekers, workforce and humans services organizations, and businesses that signed on to the letter. We will provide updates as we receive them.

Upcoming NYCETC Virtual Roundtable on Remote Training
Prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, many of you joined us for our regular monthly roundtables focused on specific issues, sectors, or communities served by NYC’s workforce community. Now that this epidemic is with us, we’re moving our monthly roundtables online (to Zoom, specifically), and we’re changing the topics to align with the issues we’re now all facing.

The March roundtable will be held on Tuesday March 31 at 9:45 am (we’re avoiding -00 and -30 minute timeslots these days for better connectivity) and will focus on the challenges and tools for the transition to remote trainings.

We’ll be joined by provider leaders who are currently navigating this transition, as well as by experts from General Assembly and LinkedIn, who have tools to help providers make this technical leap.
